Uzbekistan and IOM sign agreement to improve migration policy
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Director of the Migration Agency Behzod Musaev and Head of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Uzbekistan, Andrew Gray, held a meeting to discuss key issues related to migration.
During the meeting, the parties addressed several important topics, including the development of migration strategies, enhancing the protection of Uzbek citizens abroad, facilitating their reintegration upon return, and promoting safe and orderly migration. Particular emphasis was placed on the digitalization of migration processes.
As part of the meeting, an official Cooperation Agreement was signed between the Migration Agency and the IOM.
Under this agreement, strategic partnership will be strengthened through joint research, educational programs, and legal support.
The parties also agreed to hold an International Labour Forum in Tashkent later this year. The event is expected to serve as a platform to showcase Uzbekistan’s potential in the global labor market and attract major international employers.
The IOM was established in 1951 in Geneva and currently has over 170 member states.
