Uzbekistan and Hungary Sign Memorandum on Cooperation in Public Administration

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 3 December, a working meeting was held in Tashkent with the participation of Hungary’s Minister of Public Administration and Regional Development Tibor Navracsics, Syrdarya Region Hokim Erkin Turdimov, and Acting Director of Uzbekistan’s Agency for Management Efficiency under the President Ulugbek Khusaynov.

The parties highlighted the steady development of the strategic partnership and friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Hungary, noting that this reflects mutual trust and consistent diplomatic efforts by the leaders of both countries.

During the discussions, they explored implementing the Hungarian “Smart Villages” model in the Khavos District of Syrdarya Region as a pilot project, as well as ways to improve, modernize, and digitize public administration.

The meeting resulted in preliminary agreements to establish an Uzbek-Hungarian technology park covering 50 hectares in Khavos District, hold a business forum for entrepreneurs in Budapest, launch a fisheries faculty of Hungary’s MATE University at Gulistan State University, and implement several joint projects.

Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Uzbekistan’s Agency for Management Efficiency and Hungary’s Ministry of Public Administration and Regional Development on cooperation in public administration and civil service.

Under the memorandum, both sides will jointly carry out projects and training programs in human resource management, the introduction of innovative management practices, enhancement of human capital efficiency, and regional development initiatives.
