Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Hungary’s Minister of Public Administration and Regional Development Tibor Navracsics, who is visiting Uzbekistan, traveled to Samarkand where he held talks with the regional governor Adiz Boboev.

The parties noted that cooperation between the two countries has been steadily strengthening, with achieved results made possible thanks to the close and trusting relationship between the leaders of Uzbekistan and Hungary.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the prospects of introducing the Hungarian “Smart City” model in Samarkand, as well as issues related to improving administrative efficiency, modernizing public-sector processes, and digitalizing the city’s infrastructure.

Boboev stated that the city is rapidly developing and is approaching a population of one million, which requires a comprehensive approach to urban planning and the creation of a comfortable urban environment.

Special attention was given to exchanging experience in the reconstruction of historical sites and the use of digital technologies in city management.

Navracsics expressed support for Uzbekistan’s initiatives and proposed exploring the possibility of establishing sister-region partnerships between Samarkand region and Hungarian cities.

The sides agreed to jointly develop this direction.

Following the talks, the parties also preliminarily agreed to hold a business forum in Hungary with the participation of entrepreneurs and to implement several joint projects.
