Uzbekistan and Germany Strengthen Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation in Agriculture and Environmental Protection

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 20 October, Anvar Tuychiev, Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Agrarian, Water Management and Environmental Issues, held a meeting with a delegation led by Hermann Färber, Chairperson of the German Bundestag Committee on Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

The meeting focused on prospects for expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation, exchanging legislative experience, and implementing joint initiatives in the fields of agriculture and environmental protection.

It was noted that Uzbek–German relations are successfully developing in all areas and have now reached the level of a strategic partnership. The discussion highlighted the political will of the two countries’ leaders as a key factor in strengthening mutual understanding and expanding business ties.

Both sides expressed interest in intensifying the activities of parliamentary friendship groups, organizing joint forums and thematic conferences, and exchanging expertise on efficient water use, agricultural innovation, and sustainable development.

The participants also exchanged views on attracting investments into the agricultural sector, implementing joint projects in land reclamation, seed production, mechanization, and veterinary services, and fostering interregional cooperation.

Hermann Färber praised Uzbekistan’s progress in agricultural reform and confirmed the readiness of German companies to expand cooperation, particularly in farm mechanization, modernization of agrotechnologies, and creation of new jobs in rural areas.
