Uzbekistan and Germany Strengthen Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation in Agriculture

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Ravshan Mamutov, Chairman of the Committee on Agrarian and Water Resources of the Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan, met with Hermann Ferber, Chairman of the Bundestag Committee on Agriculture, Food, and Homeland Affairs.

The parties highlighted the steady development of bilateral relations in recent years and noted that regular high-level contacts help strengthen cooperation across all sectors, aimed at improving the welfare of both nations.

During the meeting, the German delegation was briefed on large-scale reforms under the “Uzbekistan–2030” Strategy, as well as on the 2020–2030 program for the development of agriculture and water management. Discussions covered the structure and legislative work of the Legislative Chamber, ongoing agricultural reforms, innovations in legislation, measures for rational water use, food security, and the supply of environmentally friendly agricultural products to the population.

Hermann Ferber expressed gratitude for the warm reception and praised Uzbekistan’s balanced and constructive foreign policy, as well as the extensive socio-economic transformations under President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. He emphasized that Germany views Uzbekistan as a reliable strategic partner in Central Asia and noted the impressive results of agricultural reforms.

The dialogue also focused on the prospects for further Uzbek-German relations, including inter-parliamentary cooperation, the creation of a permanent platform for direct parliamentary dialogue, activation of friendship groups, and the effective use of people-to-people diplomacy.

The sides exchanged views on sharing expertise in agriculture, rational water use, and strengthening food security. The meeting took place in a friendly and constructive atmosphere, reaffirming both countries’ commitment to expanding mutually beneficial cooperation.
