Uzbekistan and Germany expand cooperation in migration and employment
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Director of the Migration Agency Behzod Musayev and Germany’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan Manfred Huterer held a meeting to discuss key aspects of cooperation in migration and labor mobility.
Manfred Huterer emphasized that a major outcome of last year’s visit by the German Federal Chancellor to Uzbekistan was the signing of an intergovernmental agreement on a comprehensive partnership in this area, which has played a crucial role in strengthening bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, it was also noted that a working group led by Dr. Joachim Stamp, the German Federal Government’s Special Commissioner for Migration Agreements, will soon visit Uzbekistan. The purpose of this visit is to implement the agreements reached and further enhance the partnership.
Currently, Uzbekistan has established connections with 25 German employers and recruitment agencies, creating new employment opportunities for Uzbek citizens. As part of joint educational programs, Uzbek nurses who have completed German language training have already begun working in Germany’s healthcare institutions, while around 800 more are still undergoing preparation.
Additionally, in collaboration with SBH West and SEIT for Tomorrow, vocational training and retraining programs are being implemented for drivers with A2-B1 level German proficiency, ensuring their readiness for employment in Germany.
Ambassador Manfred Huterer expressed support for these initiatives, stressing that Germany opposes illegal migration but is committed to facilitating legal employment opportunities for Uzbek citizens under existing agreements.
