Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany on new projects in the energy sector was discussed during the Energy Forum, held online on 23 June 2021.
The conference was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Germany and the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the participation of German industry unions and business circles of Germany.
The forum was held under the leadership of the Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bekhzot Narmatov and the Chairman of the Board of Siemens Energy AG Dr. Christian Bruch.
“It should be noted that thanks to the reforms carried out by the government of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the energy sector, there is currently an opportunity to expand cooperation with representatives of German business in all areas of energy,” said B.Narmatov. Taking into account the experience of Germany, he invited German companies to join an open agreement on the development of renewable and hydrogen energy.
During the forum, presentations of existing and new projects in such areas as renewable energy sources (RES), hydroelectric power plants, thermal power plants, oil and gas and petrochemical spheres were presented to the business circles of Germany, a strategy for the development of hydrogen energy in the Republic of Uzbekistan was described.
During the forum in a question-and-answer format, such topics as the balancing power of the transmission network for the integration of new projects in the field of renewable energy sources in Uzbekistan, the status of reforms on the liberalization of the electricity market, hydrogen energy and other issues were discussed. Also, issues related to the upcoming tenders for renewable energy projects in the Republic of Uzbekistan were discussed.
“I think I speak from all German business, we are all interested in accompanying all the paths along which Uzbekistan is undergoing transformation,” said Dr. Christian Bruch with gratitude about the possibility of holding such an open-format event.
Following the meeting, the German side expressed interest in organizing such a joint event next year, including to discuss the strategy and prospects for the development of hydrogen energy in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
