Uzbekistan and Georgia strengthen cooperation in the Senate

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting was held in the Senate of the Oliy Majlis with a Georgian delegation led by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.

Opening the discussion, Senate Chairperson Tanzila Narbayeva emphasized that the visit of the distinguished guest provided an excellent opportunity to open a new chapter in the development of close cooperation between the two countries.

She highlighted that the peoples of Uzbekistan and Georgia share similar national customs and traditions, with hospitality and devotion to their homeland holding a special place. In recent years, bilateral relations have continued to strengthen, built on long-standing traditions of friendship and mutual trust.

A vivid testament to these strong ties is the establishment of the "Uzbekistan-Georgia" Friendship Society in Tashkent and the activities of the cultural center "Megobroba," which plays a key role in fostering humanitarian cooperation.

During the meeting, the Georgian delegation was presented with detailed information on the key directions outlined in the "Uzbekistan-2030" Strategy, as well as on the large-scale reforms being implemented in the country under this program.

Particular attention was given to strengthening intergovernmental and interparliamentary cooperation, exchanging experience in legislative improvements, and effectively utilizing the existing potential of bilateral collaboration.

Irakli Kobakhidze expressed his keen interest in further developing the partnership with Uzbekistan and highly praised the country’s achievements in various fields. He noted that the reforms carried out under the president’s leadership have had a direct impact on the daily lives of citizens.

The discussion also covered prospects for cooperation in key sectors such as tourism, the economy, electronics, agriculture, and transport communications.

Both sides exchanged views on the implementation of joint projects and outlined plans for future collaboration based on an analysis of the current situation.

Additionally, it was emphasized that the leadership of the Georgian parliament has shown significant interest in participating in the 150th anniversary assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which is set to take place in Uzbekistan. The participants reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening mutual support on the international stage.
