Uzbekistan and FAO Discuss “Green” Technologies and Agricultural Sector Development

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 5 December, First Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Norqulov held a meeting with Dmytro Prykhodko, Senior Economist at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

The talks focused on strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and FAO, as well as advancing the sustainable development of the country’s agricultural sector.

The parties discussed the introduction of green technologies into the operations of cotton-textile clusters, strategic approaches to sectoral development, and their alignment with Uzbekistan’s ongoing reforms.

Special attention was paid to the joint implementation of the AgroConnect program, carried out by FAO with support from the World Bank, as well as the creation of a national brand for Uzbek agricultural products, including fruits and vegetables.

The meeting also touched on opportunities for Uzbekistan to participate in Italian agricultural development programs supported by FAO.

Following the talks, both sides expressed their readiness to expand cooperation, continue joint initiatives and coordinate future project implementation.

It was emphasized that strengthening bilateral dialogue contributes to effectively addressing current challenges and supports the sustainable development of the country’s agricultural sector.
