Uzbekistan and Egypt Strengthen Cooperation: Saida Mirziyoyeva Meets with the Head of Al-Azhar Islamic Center
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting was held in Cairo between Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Sheikh Ahmed Muhammad al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Egypt and head of the Al-Azhar Islamic Center.
At the beginning of the conversation, Saida Mirziyoyeva conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb.
The two sides discussed prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation in spiritual, scientific, and educational spheres.
It was noted that Uzbekistan and Egypt share long-standing historical and cultural ties, and that cooperation with Al-Azhar plays an important role in promoting the principles of enlightened Islam, fostering a culture of tolerance, and protecting young people from radical ideologies.
Special attention was given to expanding joint programs and academic exchanges, as well as developing research in the study of ancient manuscripts and Islamic heritage of global significance.
During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in further deepening cooperation and implementing new projects in the humanitarian sphere.
