Uzbekistan and Egypt strengthen cooperation in higher education

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 25 February, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation, Konyratboy Sharipov, met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Uzbekistan, Tamer Fathi Abdussalem Hammad.

The meeting focused on expanding cooperation between the two countries in the fields of higher education, science, and innovation.

Currently, over 10 cooperation agreements have been signed between universities in Uzbekistan and Egypt, with plans to further increase this number.

It was noted that as part of collaboration with Egypt, opportunities have been created for advanced training of Arabic language instructors at Uzbek universities, as well as for attracting highly qualified specialists from Egypt.

Additionally, a delegation from Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies recently visited Egypt, where agreements were reached to enhance cooperation with several Egyptian universities.

The meeting also highlighted the establishment of a Joint Working Group comprising leading universities and experts from both countries to further strengthen collaboration in higher education and research. The first online session of this group is scheduled for April.

Uzbekistan’s higher education system continues to enhance its international reputation. As of 2025, 23 Uzbek universities have been ranked among the best in Asia.

To introduce Egyptian youth to Uzbekistan’s educational opportunities, a special education fair is planned for May 2025.
