Uzbekistan and Egypt Strengthen Cooperation in Geology

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A working meeting was held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan with Hisham al-Meligy, CEO of Seagull Petroleum and Mining, to discuss cooperation between Uzbekistan and Egypt in geology, the oil and gas sector, and mining industries, according to Dunyo news agency.

During the talks, Uzbek representatives shared the country’s scientific and practical experience in geological research and exploration, as well as explored opportunities for providing geological services in Egypt. Particular attention was paid to the development of scientific and technical potential and the export potential of Uzbekistan’s advanced geological services.

The sides also considered mutually beneficial projects, including the potential establishment of a branch of the University of Geological Sciences in Tashkent to train specialists and expand research collaboration.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached for an Egyptian delegation to visit Tashkent in April 2026 to discuss practical collaboration in greater detail and develop joint projects.

Both parties expressed confidence that the initiative will strengthen economic, scientific, and technological ties between Uzbekistan and Egypt, creating new opportunities for bilateral projects.
