Uzbekistan and Egypt Discuss Expansion of Agricultural Cooperation and Investment Initiatives
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Minister of Agriculture, Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov, held a working meeting in Tashkent with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Uzbekistan, Tamer Fathy Abdelsalam Hammad.
The parties discussed ways to elevate bilateral agricultural cooperation to a new level, enhance the effectiveness of ongoing projects, and accelerate the implementation of promising initiatives. Particular attention was paid to expanding production programs, including sugar production, as well as increasing export and import volumes.
During the dialogue, emphasis was placed on strengthening scientific exchange and professional development programs, including direct cooperation between educational institutions of the two countries. Special focus was also given to high-value sectors such as cotton production, genetics, and plant breeding, with discussions covering opportunities for experience-sharing and joint work between research centers.
In addition, the sides agreed to expand ties between business communities, support investment initiatives, and implement practical cooperation projects in the agricultural sector. Following the meeting, specific steps were outlined to further advance cooperation between Uzbekistan and Egypt.
