Uzbekistan and Egypt Discuss Expanding Cooperation in Healthcare and Pharmaceuticals

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Alisher Temirov, Director of the Center for Pharmaceutical Safety Control, held a meeting with Tamer Hammad, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Uzbekistan.

The parties discussed prospects for strengthening friendly relations between the two countries and expanding cooperation in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors.

At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Temirov presented an overview of Uzbekistan’s national pharmaceutical regulatory system, its development priorities, and ongoing reforms implemented under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Particular attention was given to the implementation of Presidential Decree No. PF–137 of August 19, 2025, “On Additional Measures to Regulate the Circulation of Medicines and Medical Devices.” The document aims to improve the regulatory framework, promote clinical research, introduce modern technologies, and expand local pharmaceutical production.

During the discussions, the sides addressed issues of cooperation in the registration of pharmaceuticals, quality assessment of medicines, and enhancing the testing and certification system in line with international standards. They also emphasized the importance of knowledge and expertise exchange between the two countries.

Ambassador Tamer Hammad highlighted that developing cooperation with Uzbekistan in healthcare and pharmaceuticals is one of Egypt’s key priorities. He noted the steady growth of bilateral relations and underscored the importance of joint efforts in drug registration, expanding mutual trade, and supporting investment initiatives.

As part of the visit, Ambassador Hammad toured the Center’s quality control laboratories, where he was briefed on analytical methods, testing procedures compliant with international standards, and the quality management system implemented in the laboratories.

The Ambassador highly praised the Center’s modern technological capabilities and noted that Uzbekistan’s pharmaceutical system is undergoing positive transformations, ensuring transparency and the adoption of innovative approaches.
