Uzbekistan and China Sign Agreements on Gold Deposits Development and Precious Metals Processing
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — An official meeting between Uzbek and Chinese representatives took place in Termeza, led by Long Yuxian, Chairman of the China Center for International Communication, and Chen Sung To, Chairman of JDB Group Limited.
The event was attended by Ulugbek Kasymov, Hokim of Surkhandarya Region; Ikhtiyor Niyazmuradov, Head of the China Relations Department of the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers; and Feruza Khamidova, First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Mining and Geology.
During the meeting, both sides signed agreements and exchanged documents related to previously reached arrangements, which provide for the joint development of promising gold deposits in Surkhandarya Region and the implementation of a project for precious metals processing.
The signing of these documents reflects the strengthening of multifaceted strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and China, based on mutual trust and long-term cooperation in trade and economic, investment, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
As part of the working visit, the Chinese delegation toured the Termeza International Trade Center, where investment opportunities in the region were presented alongside Hokim Ulugbek Kasymov. The visitors were provided detailed information on Surkhandarya Region’s strategically advantageous geoeconomic position, untapped resources and reserves, and prospects for expanding cooperation with external markets.
Special attention was given to the region’s agricultural sector. Long Yuxian highlighted the high export potential of Surkhandarya’s agriculture and proposed joint projects for supplying high-quality, competitive products to the Hong Kong market.
Delegation representatives emphasized that the Termeza International Trade Center has the potential to become a key regional logistics hub connecting South, North, and East Asia, and expressed their readiness to assist in attracting Hong Kong investors to the region.
The working visit concluded with Hokim Ulugbek Kasymov accompanying the delegation to Termeza International Airport, underlining the importance of strengthening bilateral ties and further developing joint projects between Uzbekistan and China.
