Uzbekistan and China discuss strengthening transport and logistics cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 14-15 December 2024, Hikmatulla Rahmetov, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Uzbek Railways JSC, visited China, where he held a series of meetings aimed at strengthening transport and logistics cooperation between Uzbekistan and China.

One of the key meetings took place with Go Jia, head of the China Railway Urumqi Bureau Group, in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR). Rahmetov also met with Wang Guochao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Port Group LLC "Lianyungang Port Group" in the city of Lianyungang.

The main topics of discussion were the development of multimodal transport, increasing cargo turnover between the two countries, organizing container block trains, and optimizing logistics chains.

A key outcome of the visit was the opening of the first representative office of "Temiryulkargo" JSC in China. This event significantly expands the company’s international presence, creating new opportunities for improving transport efficiency and fostering partnerships with Chinese counterparts.

Additionally, the parties discussed issues related to delays of wagons and containers at border points and agreed to hold regular meetings to improve coordination and accelerate transport processes.

As a result of the negotiations, agreements were reached with the China Railway Urumqi Bureau Group and LLC "Lianyungang Port Group." These agreements are aimed at creating synergy and increasing cargo flow, which will, in turn, strengthen the economic ties between Uzbekistan and China.
