Uzbekistan and Canada Strengthen Cooperation in Agricultural Science

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov, held a working meeting with Ben Bradshaw, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation at the University of Guelph (Canada).

During the discussions, the parties explored prospects for scientific research activities, the implementation of innovative approaches, and the promotion of sustainable development in the agricultural sector. Special attention was given to the importance of integrating science and practice to effectively address the pressing challenges facing the industry.

Following the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, the University of Guelph, and the agro-industrial company "YASHIL SAHRO." The document establishes a solid legal foundation for long-term and systematic cooperation in the field of agriculture.

The Memorandum provides for the conduct of agroecological research, the implementation of scientific developments into practice, the use of modern technologies and advanced expertise, as well as the training of qualified specialists and the exchange of knowledge between the parties.

The implementation of such international projects contributes to the sustainable development of Uzbekistan’s agriculture, the maintenance of ecological balance, and the enhancement of the sector’s scientific potential.
