Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 10 December 2025, Alisher Shaikhov, Advisor to the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, held a meeting with Sergio Rodrigues dos Santos, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federative Republic of Brazil to Uzbekistan, as well as Susan Kleebank, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil and Head of the Secretariat for Asia-Pacific Countries.
During the talks, the parties discussed prospects for expanding economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Brazil, as well as developing joint projects in agriculture, industry, and agro-industrial cooperation.
Particular attention was paid to effectively leveraging access to the markets of South America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
A key topic of discussion was the Uzbekistan–Brazil Business Forum, scheduled to take place in Tashkent in 2026. Participants noted that the forum would serve as an important platform for direct dialogue between entrepreneurs from both countries, establishing new partnerships, and implementing joint projects.
The Brazilian delegation was briefed on current investment reforms in Uzbekistan, measures to improve the business climate, and cooperation opportunities in sectors such as electrical engineering, automotive and aviation industries, digital economy, agriculture, and raw material supply.
The parties agreed to jointly promote business links between Uzbek entrepreneurs (and those from other Central Asian countries) and business communities in BRICS countries, as well as to leverage the BRICS and “Central Asia + Azerbaijan” platforms to strengthen investment and trade cooperation.
To ensure continuous dialogue between the business communities of both countries, an initiative was proposed to establish the “Central Asia + Brazil” Business Club.
The Brazilian side expressed readiness to send a business mission of Brazilian companies to Uzbekistan in 2026 and to organize a visit of Uzbek entrepreneurs to Brazil.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their interest in implementing the discussed initiatives and in the steady development of mutual economic cooperation.
