Uzbekistan and Belarus Strengthen Cooperation in Standardization
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A working meeting on the development of Belarusian-Uzbek cooperation was held at the State Committee for Standardization of the Republic of Belarus, the press service of the BelTA news agency reported.
The meeting was initiated by Davron Vakhabov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, and was attended by Rahmatulla Nazarov, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Belarus. The Belarusian delegation was led by Yelena Morgunova, Chair of the State Committee for Standardization, and included heads of relevant departments and research institutes.
The discussions focused on facilitating complementary and barrier-free trade between the two countries. In particular, the parties addressed the supply of household appliances and construction materials, clarifying the current procedures for product conformity assessment to gain access to each other’s markets.
It was noted that many technical requirements in both countries coincide, and some issues can be resolved through direct interaction between manufacturers and quality infrastructure organizations. Participants also discussed reforms in Uzbekistan’s technical regulation system.
“We are open to dialogue and always ready to assist in developing the necessary documents or agreements to create mutually beneficial conditions for trade in goods,” Yelena Morgunova said.
In turn, Davron Vakhabov expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the negotiations and emphasized Uzbekistan’s interest in further developing trade and economic cooperation with Belarus.
The visit of Uzbek entrepreneurs to Belarus is part of the agreements reached during the official visit of the Prime Minister of Belarus to Uzbekistan in February 2026, as well as directives from Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov. Among the goals of the visit are the opening of an Uzbek Trade House and an Uzbek cuisine restaurant in Minsk, establishment of Uzbek agricultural enterprises in Belarus, development of direct exports of Uzbek fruits and vegetables, and implementation of other joint projects.
