Uzbekistan and Belarus Hold First Meeting of Inter-Parliamentary Commission
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The first meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus was held in Vitebsk.
Participants discussed ways to strengthen inter-parliamentary ties, identified priority areas for joint work, and assessed the prospects of this new format of cooperation. It was noted that the establishment of the commission represents an important step in the development of Uzbek-Belarusian relations, enabling systematic dialogue, coordination of initiatives, and the creation of long-term cooperation programs in political, economic, social, and humanitarian spheres.
Special attention was given to developing interregional cooperation and interaction between local representative bodies. Parliamentarians emphasized that regions can become a driving force of partnership through experience sharing and the implementation of joint projects in education, culture, healthcare, tourism, and social policy.
The work of the Third Uzbekistan-Belarus Women Entrepreneurs Business Forum was highly appreciated, where discussions were held on key sectors ranging from tourism and education to engineering and light industry. The forum confirmed the interest of the business communities of both countries in practical cooperation.
The importance of active interaction between the youth parliaments of the two countries was also highlighted. According to the parties, this format will allow young people to participate in lawmaking, exchange experiences, and strengthen friendly ties.
At the conclusion of the meeting, an agreement was reached to develop joint mechanisms and programs aimed at deepening inter-parliamentary dialogue, enhancing regional connections, supporting public initiatives, and engaging youth. Participants emphasized that the commission’s work will serve as an important instrument in strengthening comprehensive partnership between Uzbekistan and Belarus.
