Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan are links between Central Asia, the South Caucasus and the countries of the Eurasian continent. This assessment was made by the director of the ISMI Eldor Aripov at a conference organized in an online format jointly with the Azerbaijani Center for the Analysis of International Relations and which brought together a representative composition of participants from among experts from leading think tanks, specialists from ministries and departments of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. 

According to him, the countries have rich potential for deepening trade relations. In this direction, according to Eldor Aripov, the key priority of cooperation should be the transport sector, including the issues of increasing mutual cargo transportation and increasing the transit potential of the two countries. 

As the representative of the ISMI noted, within the framework of the Trans-Caspian railway corridor, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan today act as connecting links between the countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus, as well as other states of the European and Asian continent. 

It was emphasized that by strengthening mutually beneficial political dialogue and trans-regional cooperation ties in Central Asia and the South Caucasus, promoting popular economic projects, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan are laying a solid foundation for creating favorable conditions necessary for the sustainable development of both countries.
