Uzbekistan and Austria Agree to Launch Joint Agricultural Projects and Educational Programs
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 3 June, an Uzbek delegation visited Vienna, led by Alisher Shukurov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, and Munira Aminova, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
During the visit, the delegation held a series of bilateral meetings with representatives of Austrian government agencies and business circles, including the Technical Assistance Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, the Austrian Agricultural Cluster, and the Austrian Parliament. The delegation also participated in the opening ceremony of the annual conference of the Austrian Economic Chamber.
At the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the parties discussed the policies and practical experience of the Austrian Development Agency regarding financial and technical support for the agricultural sector.
During the conference opening ceremony, a brief exchange of views took place with Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer, Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism of Austria, and Harald Mahrer, President of the Austrian Economic Chamber. The Austrian side expressed keen interest in intensifying trade and economic cooperation with Uzbekistan and encouraged Austrian companies to engage more actively with the Uzbek market.
At the Ministry of Finance, discussions focused on prospects for expanding cooperation in agriculture.
Representatives of Austrian businesses expressed readiness to implement joint projects in areas such as innovative farming, agricultural processing, animal husbandry, and the development of agro-clusters. The parties agreed to organize business missions to Uzbekistan to explore investment potential in greater detail.
Special attention was given to strengthening partnerships in the educational sphere. An agreement was reached to develop scientific and academic exchanges with the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, in the agricultural field.
The visit also included a substantive dialogue with members of the Austrian Parliament and the leadership of the Austrian Farmers’ Association. The parties agreed to prepare for a visit by a delegation of Austrian parliamentarians to Uzbekistan.
