Uzbekistan and APO Discuss Boosting Labor Productivity and the “Green Economy”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 10 December, a meeting took place between Indra Pradana Singawinata of the Asia Productivity Organization (APO) and Umid Abidhadjaev, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Also attending were Setsuko Miyakawa, Director of the APO Executive Office, Jun Wen Yeo, Strategic Coordinator for Green Productivity, representatives from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the Institute for Macroeconomic and Regional Studies.

The parties discussed cooperation on enhancing labor productivity, implementing international best practices, and strengthening institutional capacity.

Key points of discussion included:

Developing national productivity programs using Lean, Kaizen, and Six Sigma methodologies at enterprises in the textile, food, engineering industries, and service sectors;

Training personnel through APO programs in Japan, Singapore, Korea, and Malaysia, and establishing local training centers based on APO standards;

Developing the National Productivity Center, including technological laboratories, industrial consulting, and productivity zones across sectors;

Promoting a green economy, focusing on energy-efficient equipment, waste recycling, water-saving technologies, and adaptation to ESG standards.

Following the talks, both sides agreed to expand mutually beneficial cooperation and experience sharing to enhance production efficiency and support the sustainable development of Uzbekistan’s economy.
