Uzbekistan and Amazon Kuiper Discuss Launch of Satellite Internet

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During an official visit to the United States, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, held talks with Lisa Scalpone, Director of International Consumer Business for Amazon’s Project Kuiper.

The parties discussed the prospects for implementing Project Kuiper’s services in Uzbekistan, developing the digital ecosystem based on IT Park, and introducing high-speed satellite internet technologies.

It was noted that the initiative holds strategic importance for modernizing the country’s internet infrastructure, stimulating innovation, and expanding public access to advanced digital services.

During the conversation, it was emphasized that practical cooperation between the Ministry of Digital Technologies and Amazon Kuiper on the deployment of satellite internet services in Uzbekistan has already been established.

Amazon Kuiper is a U.S.-based private aerospace company specializing in the development of orbital internet networks and satellite infrastructure. The project aims to provide users worldwide with high-speed internet access and create a global coverage network.

Earlier, the Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Amazon Kuiper Commercial Services LLC signed a Memorandum of Understanding, laying the foundation for long-term collaboration.
