Uzbekistan and Air Products discuss new investment projects in the energy sector

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 2 April, ahead of the "Central Asia – European Union" Summit, the Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, held a meeting with the CEO of Air Products and Chemicals Inc., Eduardo Menezes.

The main topics of discussion were the efficiency of the operation of already implemented projects, the progress of ongoing initiatives, and potential mutually beneficial areas of cooperation.

Laziz Kudratov highlighted the successful experience of the company in Uzbekistan. Since 2019, Air Products and Chemicals Inc. has implemented three major investment projects totaling US$1.15 billion in various regions of Uzbekistan. Among these are hydrogen production at the Fergana Oil Refinery and the production of liquid carbon dioxide at JSC "Navoi Azot."

The company is currently continuing its projects on oxygen and nitrogen production at the MTO complex in Bukhara, with an investment of over US$200 million. The new complex will supply methanol and olefins to industries such as plastics manufacturing, automotive production, and construction.

Additionally, new projects in the areas of carbon capture and storage, aviation fuel production, and coal gasification were discussed.

Following the meeting, both parties confirmed their readiness to deepen cooperation and developed a format for effective interaction to successfully complete ongoing projects and implement new initiatives.
