Uzbekistan and Afghanistan Begin Restoration of Textile

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Practical work has commenced in Afghanistan on restoring the operations of textile enterprises as part of joint initiatives with Uzbekistan aimed at expanding trade and economic ties and implementing large-scale investment projects.

To deepen cooperation, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the state-owned Afghan Textile Corporation signed a memorandum of cooperation, which provides for the localization of several textile enterprises, previously suspended in Uzbekistan, on Afghan territory.

The document includes conducting preliminary inventories and project planning activities.

From October 18 to 23, an Uzbek delegation, including Z. Normatov from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and textile industry specialists, visited Afghanistan to implement these tasks.

During the visit, the delegation inspected facilities in Parwan Province (Gulbahor Textile Factory), Kabul (sewing workshop), Kandahar (Kandahar Textile Factory), Mazar-i-Sharif in Balkh Province (Balkh Textile Factory), and Pul-i-Khumri in Baghlan Province (Pul-i-Khumri Textile Factory).

Experts assessed the current condition of production buildings and equipment, evaluated infrastructure capabilities, and collected the necessary technical and economic data for further project design.

Currently, specialists are processing and analyzing the collected materials.

The results obtained will form the basis for preparing concrete proposals for the restoration and launch of textile enterprises in Afghanistan, contributing to the creation of new jobs and strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.
