Uzbekistan and ADB Discuss US$1.42B Projects for 2026
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting took place in Tashkent between Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev and Leah Gutierrez, the new Director General for Central and West Asia at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), along with Kanokpan Lao-Araya, Director of ADB’s Resident Mission in Uzbekistan.
The participants discussed the effectiveness of the partnership between Uzbekistan and ADB, emphasizing the need to accelerate project preparation and improve coordination on ongoing initiatives. The Bank remains a key partner in supporting the country’s economic reforms, infrastructure modernization, and the promotion of a green and inclusive economy.
During the meeting, a portfolio of projects for 2026 was presented, with a total value of approximately US$1.42 billion. The main focus areas include the energy sector, water supply, education, and sustainable development.
The discussion also covered the preparation of a new cooperation program for 2027–2030, which is expected to be signed at the upcoming 59th Annual ADB Meeting in Samarkand.
The event will serve as a platform to strengthen collaboration and finalize priority agreements between the Government of Uzbekistan and the Bank.
