Uzbekistan Airways: 2025 — A Year of Steady Growth and Strategic Decisions

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — 2025 marked a dynamic period for the Uzbekistan Airways group, characterized by the implementation of large-scale projects and strategic decisions aimed at strengthening the national carrier’s position in the international aviation market.

Over the course of the year, the group operated 49,258 flights, an 8.7% increase compared to 45,307 flights in 2024. Passenger traffic reached 6.612 million, up 6.5% from 6.207 million in the previous year. Freight transport also showed stable growth, with a total of 52,065 tons carried, including commercial cargo, excess baggage, and mail.

Throughout 2025, Uzbekistan Airways steadily expanded its route network. New routes were launched from Tashkent to Madrid, Islamabad, Tyumen, and Krasnodar; from Andijan to Novosibirsk, Istanbul, Moscow, and Saint Petersburg; and from Namangan to Krasnodar.

A key milestone was the signing of a strategically important cooperation agreement in Washington in November 2025. As part of this agreement, Uzbekistan Airways finalized the largest aircraft procurement contract in its history, acquiring 22 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. This move reflects the airline’s confidence in long-term growth and its commitment to global aviation standards.

Fleet modernization remains a systematic priority. In 2026, the airline expects deliveries of Airbus A321neo aircraft equipped with Airspace Premium cabins, state-of-the-art onboard entertainment systems, and satellite internet, providing passengers with connectivity throughout the flight.

In April 2025, the Silk Avia fleet expanded with its fourth L-410 aircraft. In May, a fully modernized Boeing 767, refurbished by Uzbekistan Airways Technics’ highly skilled specialists, returned to service.

Digital services were another focus area. An AI-based chatbot was launched on the official Uzbekistan Airways website, and payment options were expanded to include UnionPay cards for ticket purchases and additional services via the website and mobile app.

The airline’s pilot training school, operating at the company’s training center, continued staff preparation strictly in accordance with international standards. To enhance practical training, some flights are conducted in Slovenian airspace.

Uzbekistan Airways actively promoted its services at international industry exhibitions across Asia and Europe, from Thailand to Italy. In Moscow, the airline hosted the inaugural “Central Asia — on the Wings of Uzbekistan Airways” forum, bringing together leading tourism industry representatives from Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation.

In August 2025, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was presented with the newly operational Tashkent–Humo International Airport, which now serves official delegations, hosts high-level events, and introduces new standards of quality in business and private aviation.

By January 28, 2026, the airline also completed the design and tailoring of new flight attendant uniforms, which will be rolled out in phases throughout the first and second quarters of the year.

2025 proved to be a year of steady growth, significant decisions, and collective achievements for Uzbekistan Airways. Entering 2026, the airline is focused on further development, expanding its route network, and enhancing service quality.

Positioning itself as the “Wings of Central Asia,” Uzbekistan Airways continues to drive national and regional aviation development, strengthen transport connectivity, and deepen international cooperation.
