Uzbekistan, Afghanistan Boost Agricultural Cooperation Talks
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting was held between representatives of Uzbekistan’s Andijan region delegation and Afghanistan’s Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, Mawlawi Attaullah Omari, along with entrepreneurs from both countries as part of a working visit to Afghanistan.
The main focus of the talks was the development of cooperation in the agricultural sector.
The parties discussed expanding trade in agricultural and livestock products, launching new areas of cooperation, and implementing joint projects.
Andijan region governor Shukhratbek Abdurakhmonov presented several initiatives, including supplies of poultry hatching eggs, seeds, and small-scale agricultural machinery, training programs for Afghan specialists based on regional expertise, and increased imports of livestock and meat products.
The Afghan side supported the proposals and put forward its own initiatives.
These included the creation of joint livestock farms with subsequent export of production to Uzbekistan, expansion of poultry and egg supplies from Andijan region, and imports of tractors produced in Andijan.
The parties also discussed the establishment of export and transit corridors for Afghan entrepreneurs. They agreed to continue detailed work on the initiatives and take practical steps toward implementation.
