Uzbekistan Advances Active and Sports Tourism
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 5 September 2025, the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan hosted a roundtable discussion on “Active and Sports Tourism in Uzbekistan.”
The event summarized the outcomes of a scientific and practical project aimed at the comprehensive development of this promising sector of the tourism industry.
In his welcoming remarks, Deputy Chairman of the Committee Sardor Niyazov highlighted that active and sports tourism holds significant potential for attracting both domestic and international tourists, while also promoting regional development.
As part of the project, a “roadmap” was developed, which includes:
Uzbekistan’s unique natural resources and diverse terrain provide favorable conditions for a wide range of active leisure activities, from mountain and hiking tourism to water sports and extreme sports.
The event also featured the country’s first ceremony awarding professional diplomas to guides and instructors. A total of 35 specialists who completed over a year of training received certificates. The program included practical lessons in navigation, use of tourism equipment, safety procedures, and other essential skills.
It is planned that training and certification of instructors will become a regular practice, enhancing the quality of tourist services and ensuring safer travel experiences across Uzbekistan.
