Uzbekistan Adopts New Law on Physical Culture and Sports

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 24 March 2026, Uzbekistan adopted the Law “On Physical Culture and Sports” (No. ZRU-1123), aimed at regulating relations in the field of sports and physical culture.

The Ministry of Sports has been designated as the authorized state body responsible for development and oversight in this sector.

The law guarantees citizens the right to engage in both amateur and professional sports, whether as athletes, coaches, or sports judges.

It provides for the creation of sports clubs to organize physical activities, develop and popularize various sports, and prepare athletes for competitions. The introduction of a standardized athlete passport confirms affiliation with a physical culture and sports organization and validates an individual’s sports qualifications.

Sports judges are empowered to oversee compliance with the rules of their sport and competition regulations.

The law also includes state support measures for athletes and coaches, such as one-time and monthly payments, scholarships, and allowances.

The new legislation is intended to systematically develop the sports sector, enhance the quality of athlete training, and establish a transparent support infrastructure for all participants in the sporting process.
