Uzbekistan Adopts Law on Improving Security Activities

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis has adopted a law in the second reading aimed at improving security activities in Uzbekistan. The legislation introduces amendments and additions to several national legal acts to modernize the framework governing private and state security operations.

The law amends the Code of Administrative Responsibility, transferring the authority to consider administrative offenses and impose administrative penalties to officials of security units under the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Further changes to the Laws “On Internal Affairs Bodies,” “On the National Guard of the Republic of Uzbekistan,” “On Licensing, Permitting, and Notification Procedures,” and “On Security Activities” clearly delineate the responsibilities and authority of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Guard in the field of security.

Following the session, deputies approved the law and forwarded it to the Senate for final ratification.
