Uzbekistan Adopts Law on Improving Pharmaceutical Activities

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis has adopted a new law aimed at improving pharmaceutical activities in Uzbekistan. The legislation is designed to modernize the regulatory framework, enhance the quality and accessibility of medicines, and ensure compliance with international standards in the pharmaceutical sector.

The law introduces amendments and additions to several national legislative acts, focusing on harmonizing local regulations with globally recognized principles of pharmaceutical safety, production, distribution, and quality control. It also establishes clearer procedures for licensing, oversight, and accountability of pharmaceutical companies and institutions.

During the discussion, deputies emphasized that the law will support the development of a competitive pharmaceutical industry, increase the availability of quality medicines for citizens, and strengthen public health protection.

Following the session, the law was officially approved, marking a significant step in the reform and modernization of Uzbekistan’s pharmaceutical sector.
