Uzbekistan adopts Labor Code in a new edition

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Law "On Approval of the Labor Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan" was signed by the President of Uzbekistan.

According to the Code, the main principles of legal regulation of individual labor relations and public relations directly related to them are:

- equality of labor rights, prohibition of discrimination in the sphere of labor and employment;

-freedom of labor and prohibition of forced labor;

- social partnership in the sphere of labor;

-guaranteeing the provision of labor rights and performance of labor duties;

- inadmissibility of deterioration of the legal status of the employee.

In particular, freedom of labor means the right of everyone to dispose of their abilities for work, to exercise them in any form not prohibited by law, to freely choose an occupation, profession and specialty, place of work and working conditions.

The state provides additional guarantees for the employment of socially vulnerable categories of the population.

Socially vulnerable categories of the population include:

- single parents with children under the age of 14, children with disabilities, as well as parents with large families;

- young people who have received a profession after graduating from general secondary and secondary specialized educational organizations, vocational schools, vocational colleges and technical schools;

- graduates of "Mehribonlik" houses, as well as graduates of higher educational institutions who studied under state grants;

- persons dismissed from compulsory military service from the troops of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the National Guard, the State Security Service;

- persons with disabilities;

- persons of pre-retirement age (two years before the statutory retirement age);

- persons released from institutions for the execution of punishment, or persons in respect of whom, by a court decision, compulsory medical measures were applied;

- Victims of human trafficking.

This Law shall enter into force 6 months from the date of its official publication.
