Uzbekistan abolishes excise tax on white sugar imports and introduces new tax incentives

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 18 April, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree introducing new tax incentives for businesses, the Legal Information Channel of the Ministry of Justice reported.

The document formalizes the measures previously announced by the President during a government meeting held on the same day. The goal is to enhance the effectiveness of trade and industrial policy, promote entrepreneurship, and stimulate exports.

Starting from 1 October, the excise tax on the import of white sugar into Uzbekistan will be abolished, provided that the product does not contain any colorants or flavor enhancers.

Additionally, the minimum share of income from food services required to qualify for partial VAT reimbursement has been lowered — from 90% to 80% of the total income of cafes and restaurants.

Companies employing 20 or more people will be allowed to pay their accrued property tax, land tax, and rent in installments — in two equal payments: by 15 July and by 1 December.

Furthermore, deadlines for the installation of environmental monitoring equipment have been extended. Enterprises categorized as having a Category I environmental impact must install automatic monitoring stations and filtration systems by 1 January 2026. Category II enterprises must comply by 1 July 2026.
