Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Representatives of JSC “Uzbekgidroenergo” and China Huaneng Group Co. Hong Kong, Ltd. (Huaneng) held a meeting to review current cooperation, ongoing projects, and potential areas of collaboration in the hydroelectric sector.

During the discussions, the parties focused on implementing modern technologies and innovative solutions, advancing investment projects, and expanding bilateral partnerships by leveraging international experience in energy sector development.

Particular attention was given to initiatives for digitalizing production processes and applying artificial intelligence technologies in the management of hydroelectric facilities. The concept of a “Smart Hydropower Plant” was discussed, which includes the integration of digital solutions, automation of control systems, development of safety monitoring mechanisms for hydraulic structures, and centralized dispatch management.

The parties also explored the creation of a unified hydroelectric data platform and the development of specialized AI-based analytical models to forecast technological processes and enhance managerial decision-making efficiency.

Another key area of collaboration is organizing practical visits for Uzbek hydroelectric specialists to China to study advanced practices, learn about modern technologies, and improve professional qualifications.

During the meeting, Chairman of the Board of JSC “Uzbekgidroenergo” Islam Abdurakhmonov and the regional director of China Huaneng Group exchanged views on priority tasks for future cooperation and assessed the potential of joint projects.

It was noted that implementing the discussed initiatives will enhance the resilience and safety of Uzbekistan’s hydroelectric system, accelerate technological development in the sector, and strengthen international cooperation.

For reference, China Huaneng Group, founded in 1985, is one of the world’s largest energy companies, with a total installed capacity of approximately 270 GW and annual electricity generation exceeding 1.1 trillion kWh.
