Uzbek Translation of Bakhtiyar Vahabzade’s Book Presented in Ferghana

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of the “Azerbaijan Art and Literature Days” program, implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Azerbaijan Cultural Center under the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Uzbekistan, Ferghana State University hosted the presentation of the book “Jonimga jo – Ozarbayjonim” by Azerbaijan’s People’s Poet Bakhtiyar Vahabzade.

The event was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the prominent poet, playwright, and public figure.

Speakers noted that the book had been translated into Uzbek and published as part of a project by the Azerbaijan Cultural Center.

The publication has become an important cultural milestone, offering a wider audience an opportunity to engage more deeply with Bakhtiyar Vahabzade’s creative legacy while strengthening the spiritual ties between the peoples of the two countries.

The event was opened by the First Vice-Rector of Ferghana State University, Doctor of Philology Zakir Rakhimov. He emphasized that academic and literary cooperation between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan has significantly intensified in recent years, and that Vahabzade’s work continues to bring readers and researchers of both nations closer together.

In his address, Akif Marifli, Director of the Azerbaijan Cultural Center, noted that the dynamic development of relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan is a result of the political will and strategic vision of the presidents of both countries.

According to him, the translation of “Jonimga jo – Ozarbayjonim” into Uzbek is an important step in promoting Vahabzade’s legacy among a new literary audience.

Marifli stressed that Bakhtiyar Vahabzade’s poetry reflects the spiritual aspirations of the Azerbaijani people, as well as ideas of national consciousness, Turkic identity, and unity — themes that remain relevant today.

The discussion also featured contributions from scholars and representatives of the creative community, including Professor Khabibullo Juraev, Professor Erkin Nuriddinov of UzNPU, Professor Gyuzal Mukhamedzhanova, and People’s Artist of Uzbekistan Sultanalı Mannanov. They highlighted that Vahabzade’s poetry serves as an important cultural bridge between classical traditions and contemporary artistic thought, resonating deeply with Uzbek readers.

The artistic segment of the program featured the “Khary Bulbul” theater troupe, which performed dramatic interpretations of the poet’s works. The emotional performance sparked great interest and underscored the depth of Vahabzade’s writing.

Organizers concluded that the presentation of the Uzbek-language edition in Ferghana marks another step in strengthening cultural dialogue between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. Similar literary projects are planned in the near future.
