Uzbek Specialists Complete Internship at Rosatom Academy

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Specialists from Uzbekistan have completed a two-week internship at the Rosatom Technical Academy, conducted under agreements between Uzatom and the Russian state corporation Rosatom.

The program aims to train skilled personnel for Uzbekistan’s first nuclear power plant, focusing on creating a comprehensive system for staff education. The internship emphasized an integrated training approach, including the methodology of design, equipment use, and operation of modern training centers. Participants worked with simulators and mock-ups for repair skills and experienced a full-scale simulator for operational nuclear plant staff training.

Hands-on exercises allowed trainees to apply theoretical knowledge to real engineering tasks. Feruz Dilmuratov, Chief Specialist of the Technical Department at Uzbekistan’s NPP Construction Directorate, noted that the program combines theory with practice on an extensive simulator base, providing a crucial stage in personnel preparation for the future plant.

Behruzjon Jabbоrov, Chief Specialist in Industrial Safety at the NPP Construction Directorate, emphasized that Uzbekistan currently lacks its own training infrastructure, making the Rosatom internship an important opportunity to learn the full cycle of specialist preparation, from designing training centers to practical methodology.

The final phase included a visit to the Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant, where Uzbek specialists observed practical application of the skills learned and familiarized themselves with the operation of advanced reactor units.

In 2024, Rosatom and Uzatom signed the first-ever export contract for a small modular nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan. In 2025, the construction of two large VVER-1000 units and two RITM-200N reactors of 55 MW each was agreed.

The Rosatom Technical Academy specializes in advanced professional education, personnel certification, and nuclear industry training. Cooperation with Uzbekistan continues as part of efforts to develop the country’s national nuclear infrastructure and enhance workforce qualifications in nuclear energy.
