Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 23 November 2021, a meeting was held between the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Sodyk Safoev with the Managing Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for Central Asia Zsuzsanna Hargitai.

The meeting discussed the state and prospects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the EBRD.

Zsuzsanna Hargitai highly appreciated the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan to attract foreign investment, changes in the banking, financial and tax systems, strengthening monetary policy, which made it possible to achieve significant results.

It was noted that today several regional offices of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development have been opened in the regions of the country.

The parties discussed the parameters of ongoing and planned for the future socio-economic and infrastructure projects in Uzbekistan with the participation of the EBRD, as well as in areas such as strengthening financial stability, developing the insurance market and other issues of mutual interest.

Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to strengthen cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, expressed interest in expanding bilateral relations.
