Uzbek Senate discusses prospects for Uzbek-French cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 26 February, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Sodiq Safoyev, held a meeting with Aurélia Bouchez, the Ambassador of France to Uzbekistan.
During the discussion, both sides emphasized that Uzbek-French cooperation is developing dynamically at a high level due to the friendly relations between the leaders of the two countries. Particular attention was given to the effectiveness of bilateral projects in trade, economy, culture, education, and humanitarian cooperation.
The parties noted that initiatives proposed by the governments and parliaments of Uzbekistan and France enjoy international support, creating a strong foundation for further collaboration.
A key topic of the negotiations was the development of inter-parliamentary relations, including cooperation between friendship groups and relevant legislative committees of both nations, as well as establishing ties between territorial Kengashes (regional councils).
Ambassador Bouchez also highlighted the strong interest of French parliamentarians in the 150th anniversary assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which will be held in Uzbekistan from 5 to 9 April 2025, for the first time in Central Asia.
