Uzbek-Russian trade-economic and investment cooperation discussed in Tashkent

The delegation of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council, Mr. Ilyas Umakhov arrived in the Republic of Uzbekistan to attend the event.

The organizers of the event were Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, Ministry of Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Investments, Russian-Uzbek Business Council, South Ural Chamber of Commerce.

Representatives of relevant ministries and departments of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as Uzbek and Russian companies, engaged in the fields of chemical, light, machine-building, agricultural, aviation, metallurgy, oil and gas equipment, energy, hydraulic engineering, and others took part in the roundtable.

The purpose of the event was to facilitate establishment of trade relations between Uzbek and Russian companies, to work out the issues of creating new joint ventures and implementing new investment projects.

During the round table, the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Adham Ikramov informed the guests about the economic reforms and investment opportunities carried out in our country, for Russian companies in the Uzbek market, about measures taken to liberalize the economy and the foreign exchange market, improve the business environment, support business, protect rights and legitimate interests of small businesses and private entrepreneurship, increasing the investment attractiveness of the country’s economy, as well as the conditions for foreign investors in the existing and the newly created free economic zones.

At the event, new directions for strengthening cooperation between entrepreneurs of Uzbekistan and Russia were discussed.

As a result of the event, the protocol of the meeting of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation was signed. The sides also signed a plan of practical measures ("road map") for development of bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation between the Senate of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation for 2018.
