Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Humo Arena sports complex on 10 October and watched the competitions of the World Judo Championship.

This is an important tournament second only to the Olympic Games in terms of prestige. The championship, which is held for the first time in our country, is attended by 571 judoists from 82 countries. The national team of Uzbekistan includes 18 men and women.

The head of our state watched the finals of men’s competitions in the weight category up to 90 kilograms. Our compatriot Davlat Bobonov defeated his Italian rival Christian Parlati in a tough fight and won the gold medal. This was another outstanding success of domestic sports.

Medals to the winner and prize-winners - Davlat Bobonov (gold), Christian Parlati (silver), Georgians Lasha Bekauri and Luka Maisuradze (bronze) were presented by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

In the remaining days of the competition, four more representatives of our country will take to the tatami. The World Championship will end on 13 October.
