Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will take part in the opening ceremony of the Tashkent Metallurgical Plant in Yangikhayot district in Tashkent city on 4 December. This was reported by the press service of the head of state.

The giant enterprise is of great importance for the economy of Uzbekistan, since the ferrous metallurgy in our country is very poorly developed. The new enterprise will produce 500,000 tons of zinc and polymer coated metal sheets per year. Today the demand for these products is provided mainly by imports.

The plant’s activities will make a significant contribution to import substitution and increasing the level of localization in the country. The company is expected to export products worth US$90 million a year. The complex will provide jobs for about 700 people. In general, together with related industries, 5,000 new jobs will be created.

The construction of the plant began in February 2017. About US$420 million was spent on its construction.

After the opening ceremony, the President will get acquainted with the production processes at the enterprise.
