Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 26 August, an extraordinary thirty-fourth session of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan was held in the city of Nukus.

The meeting was opened by Deputy Chairman of the Jokargy Kenes Atabek Davletov. The secretariat of the session was elected and the agenda was approved. It included two organizational issues.

Chairman of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan Murat Kamalov filed an application for early termination of his powers due to illness.

This issue was put to a vote, in accordance with Article 83 of the Constitution of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, a decision was made to early terminate the powers of the Chairman of the Jokargy Kenes Murat Kamalov and dismiss him from his post.

The meeting also discussed the issue of electing the Chairman of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. According to the legislation of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, a candidate for this position is recommended by the Council of Elders, consisting of deputies. In this regard, the Council of Elders was formed.

After consulting, the members of the council recommended the candidacy of Orynbaev Amanbay Tleubayevich for the post of Chairman of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

The session was attended by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

In his speech, the head of state noted that as President he visited Karakalpakstan more than other regions, that is, 9 times, during which he repeatedly exchanged views with elders, entrepreneurs, and youth representatives.

During this period, 31 decrees and resolutions were adopted aimed at the comprehensive development of Karakalpakstan. The number of business entities in the region has doubled, about 4.5 thousand investment projects have been launched.

In Karakalpakstan, the provision of drinking water has increased from 40 to 68 percent, coverage of pre-school education - from 32 to 76 percent, per capita income has doubled. In 2017-2021, 26,400 housing units were built.

However, despite all the efforts and huge funds allocated to Karakalpakstan, there are still problems in such issues as drinking water, internal roads, electricity, unemployment, prices, the President critically noted.

The head of our state suggested that before considering the proposed candidacy, we should listen to the candidate’s vision regarding the development of the region.

The candidate outlined his proposals for the development of entrepreneurship, the agricultural sector and infrastructure of Karakalpakstan, increasing the number of industrial projects, social protection of the population, education and youth support.

The President approved these plans and instructed to reduce the rates of taxes on income, turnover, property and land tax by 2 times in Karakalpakstan in order to implement them.

Instructions were given to reduce the area under crops for cotton and grain with the allocation of 2 hectares of land to each family, the creation of an industrial technopark in Nukus and business zones in the regions, repair of roads, improvement of electricity, gas and water supply.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, taking into account the leadership abilities, patriotism and human qualities of Amanbay Orynbayev, expressed his consent to the candidacy.

- Your only task is to satisfy the people. It is necessary to visit every district, village and aul, to create decent conditions for the population, the head of state said.

Deputies of Jokargy Kenes and members of the public spoke and spoke in support of the candidate.

The Counting Commission was formed. By secret ballot, Amanbai Orynbaev was unanimously elected Chairman of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

- Here, having shown high confidence, with great hopes for the future, we have elected a new Chairman, - said the President.
