Uzbek President orders dismissal of anti-corruption unit heads in 117 agencies
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has instructed Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov to dismiss the heads of "internal anti-corruption control" units in 117 ministries and agencies, replacing them with professional personnel.
According to the directive, regional compliance officers within ministries will now be appointed directly by the heads of their respective agencies.
Additionally, the working approach of the Anti-Corruption Agency will be reformed. As part of a pilot project, the agency will take over compliance control functions in five key institutions: the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Water Resources, as well as the companies Uzbekneftegaz and Uzsuvtaminot.
By the end of the year, the leadership of these organizations will report to the National Council on their progress in combating corruption.
Furthermore, the Anti-Corruption Agency and the government have been tasked with conducting an annual analysis of corruption-prone sectors in at least three industries and implementing digital solutions to eliminate bureaucratic barriers.
