Uzbek official to participate in environment conference in Almaty
The event purpose is discussion of environmental cooperation in Central Asia region: progress and achievements, plans and priorities. It is planned to signing the final document determining the strategy of cooperation in central Asia to the next decade within the Conference.
The following official persons will be the conference speakers: Kanat Bozumbayev – Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Iskander Abdullayev – executive Director of RECCA, Abdykalyk Rustamov – Director of Government environmental protection and forest management agency affiliated to the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, Khairullo Ibodzoda – Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Conservation affiliated to the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mergen Annabayev - Chairman of the Governmental Committee for Environmental Conservation and land resources of Turkmenistan, Bakhtiyor Abdusamatov - Chairman of the Governmental Committee for Environmental Conservation of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Three plenary meetings will be held within the conference. The following persons will speak at the meetings: Mr.Peter Burian, Special representative of EU, European External Action Service, Mr. Gyorgy Sabo - Head of the OSCE Program Office in Astana, Mr. George Bouma, Team Leader of the Regional Centre for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), UNDP, Mrs. Tiziana Bonapace , Head of Office of Subregional ESCAP Office for North and Central Asia, Mr. George Deikun – Director of Regional Mission for Central Asia, U.S. Agency for International Development, Mr. Bo Libert, Regional advisor on environment, UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), Mr. Jan Dusik – Director of UNEP Regional Office for Europe, Mr. Eisbrand DE Yang – Lead specialist of Water resources of World Bank, Mr. Volker Frobarth – Director of Trans-Boundary Water Resources Management in Central Asia Program - GIZ GmbH and Mr. Peep Mardiste – EU, UNECE Water Initiative Program Manager.
Key aspects in the area of climatic changes, water cooperation in Central Asia, interrelation will be discussed on the panel sessions organized within the Conference.
The representatives of ministries of external affairs, conservation and environmental ministries and agencies of Central Asia countries, members of Governing Board and Community Advisory Board of RECCA, NGO representatives, partners and donors from international, regional organizations, mass media.
The Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia is the Event Organizer.
