Uzbek National Pedagogical University named after Nizami to be established

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A Presidential Decree titled “On Measures for the Further Development of the System for Training Pedagogical Personnel” has been adopted.

According to the Decree, the Uzbek National Pedagogical University named after Nizami will be established on the basis of the Tashkent State Pedagogical University named after Nizami. The new institution will become the country’s leading university for teacher training.

Starting from the 2025/2026 academic year, the University’s management system will undergo major reforms based on the experience of the “New Uzbekistan” University. The current structure of 14 faculties will be streamlined and reorganized into six Pedagogical Higher Schools, which will not hold the status of legal entities.

Academic activities will be managed through a digital Learning Management System (LMS) and integrated with the “Higher Education Management Information System” (HEMIS). International academic programs will be gradually introduced into bachelor’s degree courses, starting from the first year.

Additionally, from the 2025/2026 academic year, teacher training will be conducted exclusively through evening and nighttime study formats, while part-time (correspondence) education will be discontinued. Licensing of non-state educational services in the field of higher pedagogical education will be based on expert opinions issued by the Ministry of Preschool and School Education.

As part of the implementation of the Decree, a new system for selecting faculty members to teach in education programs at the University and other pedagogical institutions that adopt international programs will be introduced from the 2025/2026 academic year. This selection process will involve foreign experts.

Starting from the 2026/2027 academic year, a master’s program in “Hospital Pedagogy” will be launched to further enhance the education and upbringing of children with special educational needs.

Beginning on 1 September 2026, international education programs will be gradually implemented in the curriculum of the country’s existing pedagogical colleges.
