Uzbek medical center receives mammography complex

The Government of Japan financed supply of the equipment with the cost of US$100,000 within the programme “No string aid to grass-root projects”.

According to official data, the incidence of breast cancer among women with cancer in Uzbekistan in 2014 amounted to 24.2%. One of the ways to reduce mortality is screening and detecting disease in early stage.

Director of the RCRC Professor Sarimbek Navruzov said that receiving of the complex is new stage for development of oncology in Uzbekistan as the country moves to new technology on revealing breast cancer.

Each day, the mamology room of the RCRC receives 40-50 women and majority of them need to undergo preliminary diagnosis. Now the patients will can undergo diagnosis with help of mammography complex.

Ambassador of Japan Fumiho Kato underlined that protection of health of women and children is one of spheres, which is supported by the Government of Japan with Official Development Aid.

He expressed hope that mammography complex will help to early diagnosis of the breast cancer and contribute to protection of women’s health in Uzbekistan.
