Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- During the plenary session, the IPA CIS Council decided to award the Chingiz Aitmatov Prize in 2022 to the rector of the Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature named after Alisher Navoi, Doctor of Philology, Professor Shukhrat Sirojiddinov.
At the plenary session, the award was presented to the scientist by the head of the delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurlanbek Shakiev.
Shukhrat Sirojiddinov is known as a prominent scholar in the field of textual criticism and literary criticism, has a number of scientific works on Uzbek classical literature, religious studies and translation theory. The writer is the author of more than 140 scientific articles, 16 monographs and manuals.
The Chingiz Aitmatov Prize was established in November 2012 at the proposal of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic. It is awarded annually for merits in the field of culture, education, contribution to the development of the humanities, literature and art, for the study and preservation of cultural heritage, rapprochement and mutual enrichment of cultures, nations and nationalities, strengthening peace and friendship, as well as for the development of spiritual ties between states.
