Uzbek leader signs law on state security
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 5 April, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a law “On State Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.

The law was adopted by the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis on 15 March and approved by the Senate on 29 March. The document came into force on 6 April.

The main goal of the law is the legislative regulation of the activities of the State Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

According to the law, the Service is an authorized state body, carrying out its activities by special means, forms and methods for ensuring state security.

The law fixes the main activities of the Service. These include: ensuring state security and protecting the interests of the Republic of Uzbekistan from external and internal threats, strengthening the rule of law, preventing, identifying and suppressing violations in this sphere, carrying out intelligence and counterintelligence activities to prevent, detect and suppress encroachments on the constitutional order, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Uzbekistan, protection of the State Border of the Republic of Uzbekistan, defending Armed Forces and the military-industrial complex of the Republic of Uzbekistan from the challenges, risks and threats to state security, etc.

Also, the important activities of the Service are ensuring state security in the scientific, technical, social and information spheres, protecting the cultural, historical and rich spiritual heritage of the people of the Republic of Uzbekistan, countering corruption in state bodies and other organizations that threaten state interests and security, security and protection of state interests in the field of telecommunications and transport, prevention, detection and the suppression of the preconditions for emergency situations, and others.

The legality, observance and respect for the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of citizens, reliance on citizens’ assistance, the priority of preventing and preventing offenses, unity, independence, conspiracy are determined by the basic principles of the Service.

The law regulates the conditions and limits of the use by the Service of physical force, special means and firearms, the procedure for using vehicles of state bodies, other organizations and citizens.

It should be noted that the Service, in carrying out its activities, reports and reports directly to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The service also regularly presents reports to the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on issues of defense and security in the main areas of its activities.

At the same time, the General Prosecutor of the Republic of Uzbekistan supervise the exact and uniform execution of laws in the activities of the Service.
